I was reading in the paper the other day some helpful gardening tips on what sort of fertiliser you should be using for different plant varieties and what to look for on the products packaging.

The three main elements of a fertiliser are

  • nitrogen (N)
  • phosphoros (P)
  • potassium (K)

When the ratio of these are about the same, you can expect a product to be a well balanced all-rounder.

  • A higher ratio of nitrogen (N) will encourage leafy growth
  • A higher ratio of phosphorus (P) will encourage root development
  • A higher ratio of potassium (K) will encourage fruit and flower production.
I hope this info was helpful and if anyone else has some knowledge they wish to share send me an email to michael@kensingtonproduce.com.au and I will publish it on our blog, happy gardening !
